  PETER TOOHEY:

World class guitarist, classical, jazz, world, pop and original. Among today’s finest guitarists Toohey’s career has weaved through academia, composition, arranging and concert performances. Here is a chance to see and hear a renowned musician whose solo and chamber music recitals have taken him to Europe, USA, Japan and seen him support the likes of the legendary Victor Borge. Formerly on staff in the Jazz Dept. of NSW Conservatorium Toohey was also director of the Academy Of The Guitar in Sydney. Leaving academia Toohey has melded his diverse musical influences to create a style as unique and contemporary as that of the extraordinary Tommy Emmanuel. On steel and nylon acoustic a huge repertoire evokes the greats: Segovia, Joe Pass, Jobim, Chet Atkins and Ry Cooder while maintaining Tooheys own distinctive sound. His acclaimed "Sleepers, Wake" CD blends Classical, Jazz, Latin, Pop and Celtic material seamlessly. Enjoy a world class performer.

JOHN BROWNRIGG:

A world class vocalist capable of many vocal genres from Jazz to Rock to Country to Swing to Roots and Blues: John has been known in the past to leave an audience captivated with his rich soulful spirit filled voice. His voice has an old school flavour with a new school sprinkle. An easier way to say it would be BB KING meets JOHN MAYER. Singing is as important as breathing is to him. Johns recordings are available on line at iTuNes.

John does the occasional solo gig. So keep your eyes open for dates.

GAVIN AHEARN:

In his life as a professional musician he has performed with some of the finest musicians and in many parts of the world including Europe, USA, Asia and Australia. Gavin led his own U.S. based piano trio for 7 years with "the professor of the bass" Chris Riggenbach and brilliant improvisational drummer Christian Coleman. This trio recorded an album in New York, The Flight of The Arctic Tern, which also featured prominant New York saxophonist Mike Dopazo and all original compositions. This album was distributed in Japan and is also available online. Some other highlights of his time overseas include a concert series in Norway with trumpeter Gary Hoffman and performances in Slovakia with legendary drummer Dodo Sosoka.

Another aspect of Gavin Ahearn's musical skills which are in demand are his arranging abilities. He has arranged for shows and recordings including for popular New Orleans based soul artists Bobby Whavers and Ron Joseph and London based singer Dylan Foster.

The pianist returned to Australia in 2008 after spending 10 years overseas and has since been involved in some very well received performances with some of the finest Sydney and visiting jazz musicians including director of Synergy, Tim Constable; Sydney's most in demand drummer Nic Cecire; visiting trombone legend Adrian Mears and many others.

Gavin has recently recorded a new album of original works featuring Australia's greatest saxophonist, Dale Barlow, U.S. drummer Christian Coleman, the esteemed Matt Gruebner on bass and Caviar cohort Peter Toohey on guitar. He is currently the jazz piano tutor on the faculty of the Australian International Conservatorium of Music.
